FISH FRITHAD Recipe

FISH FRITHAD (non-veg)

Ingredients

  • 500 gms fish (pomphret/ Tuna/ King fish)
  • 3 tbsp. ghee/oil
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp. Frithad masala
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 tbsp. tamarind pulp
  • 2 cups of thick coconut milk
  • 1 onion sliced

For ground paste:

  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tbsp. chopped coriander
  • 2 green chillies

Method

  • Heat ghee/oil and fry onions till golden brown (set aside)
  • Grind the garlic, coriander and chillies to a fine paste
  • Was the fish and pat dry. Marinate with ground paste, salt and Frithad masala for 10-15 mins
  • Heat ghee/oil in a pan till it’s very hot. Add a pinch of turmeric (to prevent the fish from burning)
  • Shallow fry the fish and let it cook on one side for 3 mins.
  • Add thick coconut milk (you can use readymade/ fresh milk), tamarind pulp and fried onions
  • Let it simmer on a slow flame for 3-5 mins
  • Garnish with coriander and serve with steamed rice or East Indian rice rotis

PANEER FRITHAD

Ingredients

  • 500 gms paneer cubes
  • 3 tbsp. ghee/oil
  • 2 medium onions sliced
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 2 tbsp. thick tamarind pulp
  • 4 flakes garlic crushed/ ground paste
  • 2 tbsp. Frithad masala
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 cups of thick coconut milk

Method

  • Heat ghee/oil and fry the paneer till golden brown
  • In the same oil fry onions till translucent
  • Add garlic paste, Frithad masala, chopped tomato and sauté till oil separates
  • Add paneer cubes and salt. Let it simmer on a slow flame for 5 mins.
  • Add thick coconut milk (you can use readymade/ fresh milk) and tamarind pulp
  • Let it simmer on a slow flame for 3-5 mins
  • Garnish with coriander
